Beaches
Hydra has many pebbly and rocky beaches but only a few sandy ones. As vehicles are not allowed on the island, access to all the beaches is possible only on foot. For the more remote ones there is also the alternative of a boat or a sea taxi.
Spilia
The beach of Spilia (meaning “cave” in Greek) is a rocky beach situated at the end of the jetty of the port of Hydra, at the external side of it.
It is a pretty popular and pretty crowed beach offering to the tourists the chance to enjoy crystal clear turquoise and deep sea and to dive from the rocks. Some of the rocks of the beach have been smoothed and covered with cement, which allows the swimmers to enjoy sunbathing comfortably.
Avlaki
Avlaki is a small pebbly beach situated beside Ydronetta. In fact, the beach is made up of a few patches with pebbles and a small surface covered with cement, for sunbathing.
Mikro Kamini
The beach of Mikro Kamini is a tiny cute beach with pebbles, situated beside the port of Kamini, between the settlement of Hydra and the beach of Vlyhos.
Vlyhos
The beach of Vlyhos, a pebbly beach with grey pebbles, is situated western to the port, in front of the homonymous tourist resort with the white washed houses keeping the traditional architecture and arranged on the slopes of a low hill above the beach, near the small country church of Aghios Charalambos.
Bisti
The beach of Bisti is situated at the very south of the island, within a cove surrounded by high and steep rocks, in front of a lovely thick wood of pine trees.
Agios Nicolaos
The beach of Aghios Nicolaos is situated at the western coast of the island; one of the pros of the place is that it is found at a pretty secluded area. The beach is surrounded by piney slopes and has a nice view.
It is a pebbly beach, with fine pebbles, well organized, with facilities for swimming, sunbathing
and snorkeling.
Mandraki
In short distance from the port, at the left side of it, it is situated the beach of Mandraki, which in the past used to be the military port of the island. Located within a small close cove, Mandraki is a beach with small pebbles.
